Since I have a lot of Chicago wedding vendor readers and aspiring wedding planner reading my blog I wanted to let you know of an event that may be of interest to you. My friend Katy Carrier of Carrier & Associates and hosting a great event in Chicago on Monday, October 17th. Law School for Wedding Professionals is a day-long educational workshop covering the legalities of owning, protecting and growing your wedding business.

The workshop is coming to Chicago on Monday, October 17th at the Elysian Hotel, and will cover topics including: client contracts selecting the proper business entity, such as LLCs and S-corporations, protecting your brand through trademarks copyright registration and dealing with infringement business insurance employment law, including contracts and properly classifying workers as employees, independent contractors and interns social media law and more!
Each workshop registration also includes a custom, attorney-performed custom contract review and revision (or completely new contract if you do not have one), or if you don't need any work related to your client contract, you can substitute other options like an independent contractor or intern agreement, or the formation of an LLC or corporation.

The workshop runs from 9 am to 6 pm, and includes breakfast and lunch. You can save $100 off of the registration fee if you register by Friday, September 30th, and there is also a payment plan available.
